Applications
Three Simple Steps
YIP is looking for high school students in the Besiktas district who are ready to develop solutions to real-world problems and Robert College students who want to become mentors. Both applications consist of a Google Form and a short interview stage.
Fill Out the Form
Fill out the Google Form explaining your motivation, interests, and preferred project topics. Individual and group applications are accepted.
Online Interview
If applications exceed capacity, shortlisted candidates complete a short online interview to assess motivation, interests, and program fit.
Results by Email
Admission decisions are shared by email. Selected students complete a second form after YouthFest to finalize their groups and topics.

Do you attend a high school in Besiktas and have curiosity about science, the environment, or social issues? Apply to develop a real project with a team and a dedicated mentor. Prior research experience is not required; what matters is enthusiasm and commitment to the process.

- Have a genuine interest in science or social problem solving
- A statement explaining your motivation and expectations from the program
- Preferred scientific fields and topics of interest
- Indicate whether you are applying individually or as a group; groups must include 2–4 people

Selection criteria: Motivation · Program fit · Potential for active participation
Mentor Application
Mentor applications are open to Robert College students with scientific project experience. As a YIP mentor, you will be assigned to a group of 2–4 students, meet weekly or biweekly throughout the year, and guide the group through the entire process from problem definition to final presentation.
- Be a Robert College student
- Scientific project experience (required)
- Statement of motivation for joining YIP as a mentor
- Preferred mentorship field
- Be available for weekly or biweekly sessions throughout the year
- Be ready to submit short progress notes after each meeting
How Does the Mentorship Process Work?
Mentor–Group Matching
Each group is assigned a mentor based on topic preference and experience. An introductory meeting is held to align expectations, project goals, and the calendar. Reassignment may be made if needed.
Regular Meetings
Weekly or biweekly meetings are held throughout the year. A separate WhatsApp group is created for each team. All sessions are tracked through shared Google Docs.
Progress Tracking
Mentors share short progress notes after each meeting. In March, a committee meeting is held where all groups present interim progress. Groups that do not show sufficient progress may be removed from the program.
Shared Curriculum
The organizing team shares educational materials, mentorship guides, and session slides through a shared digital platform accessible to all mentors and participants.
